An AFR Alumni is someone who has received a grant for either recovery housing or treatment. We love for our grantees to stay connected with us and keep us updated on their progress! A huge part of staying connected is our Alumni Events. Held on one Saturday each month, these events are fully funded, and transportation can easily be arranged, ensuring everyone can join in on the fun.
From bowling to roller skating, movie nights to pumpkin carving, and so much more, our events are designed to celebrate recovery, build lasting friendships, and create unforgettable memories. We want our alumni to know they’re never alone — there’s always a place for them in our community!

ALUmNI STORIES
My name is Joe L. I am currently coming up on 7 months of sobriety. My struggle with addiction began when I was about 14. Alcohol and marijuana came into my life and I loved it. Shortly later, to fit in with some of the upper classman on my ice hockey team, I first tried cocaine. This drug completely altered my feeling and perspectives. No longer were school or sports a priority, partying became number one... Around the age of 18 I was first introduced to opiates. I didn’t think they were that bad because they were in pill form and from a doctor. I fell in love. Not too long later I tried heroin for the first time. Little did I know this would completely rock my world for the worst…
All For Recovery has been an excellent resource and support to our local community members seeking help. From the initial launch of the organization, Kellie and her Board of Directors have sought to hold the highest standards when seeking out relationships with providers or stakeholders in the community. Lived experience is key and she brings that to her organization with great enthusiasm. My experience with the board is that they cover a wide landscape of professionals who bring forth their unique set of skills in order to drive the AFR mission forward…
Thank you guys so much for all the help I've received over the last four weeks. I benefited greatly due to the extra accountability and check-ins. You guys played a pivotal role in the stability of my recovery. Thank you! I am honored to work with you guys.
All for recovery gave me the help I need to get to get into a recovery house when I transitioned out of rehab. Without the funding I received to get my feet on the ground, I would never have achieved things I have now like a steady job, a car, my own place, and lasting sobriety.
Just want to give you an update. Things are progressing well. Lined up two job interviews this week and completed them. One of them hired me on and my first day is Monday. I’ve really been connecting with a couple of the guys in the house. Hitting at least one meeting a day (sometimes 2). The house manager took me to his sponsor for a 12&12 study group. That’s my favorite kind of “meeting”…
After being addicted to opiates for the better part of 15 years I couldn't have been any more of a broken man. What I hadn't lost to my addiction I gave away. I had hit my lowest bottom, my breaking point. I was ready for a change but didn't know where to even begin. Then I was introduced to All For Recovery and the incredible people there helped me with a scholarship, find and get into a detox than a treatment center that met my needs…
My anxiety was crippling. That’s all I was sure about. It reminded me of this joke I heard from a stand-up comedian. He said: “You know that feeling you get when you lean back in a chair too far and you ALMOST fall over? And then you CATCH YOURSELF JUST IN TIME!!” .“Yeah, I feel that way all the time.” That's how I felt. And I felt that way all the time. I also felt like if I didn’t do things, then nothing would ever get done right. I felt like I was the smartest. I felt like I worked the hardest. I felt like my way was the best way. I had courage, with little wisdom…
